Aidan's Profile
Aidan has specialised in resource management law since 1995 and has become a nationally recognized expert in this area having acted in relation to many substantial projects of local and national significance.
He has acted for developers on a wide range of developments including rest homes, motels, apartment complexes, large-scale billboards (including billboards on heritage buildings), heritage building redevelopments, child-care centres, a high country resort and major residential subdivision consents and plan changes.
In addition to his work for private clients Aidan has acted for numerous local authorities and currently provides specialist resource management advice to the Christchurch City Council, the Ashburton District Council and the Timaru District Council among others. This council work includes representing councils in numerous Environment Court proceedings. He has also represented councils on major projects including road stoppings, and new infrastructure such as bridges, pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, landfills and organic processing plants and a major rezoning for a new industrial park.
Aidan has extensive experience in the Environment Court in relation to appeals and enforcement proceedings and is significantly involved in submissions on the Canterbury Regional Council's Proposed Natural Resources Regional Plan (NRRP).
Having been schooled at Christchurch Boy's High School, Aidan has a young family and in his spare time enjoys tramping and sport.
