For staff members
Thank you for your patience. The aftershocks have continued to frighten and frustrate us all. We all know that aftershocks are a normal part of any earthquake event however they continue to be upsetting. Sadly they will most likely last for many weeks.
The Clarendon Tower building is open for staff use via your access cards. However, to ensure that no one is stuck in a lift in the event of a power outage there will be no lifts operating today or Friday.
The building has now been checked at least three times (and by different engineers). They have repeatedly confirmed that the building and stairwells are completely safe despite some small movement in some places. Cleaners are presently cleaning the unsightly plaster from the stairwells.
Many staff are working here today. Happy birthday to Jacqui (27?) for today. We are trying to return to normal operations from now and hope that all staff will work from either the city, New Brighton or Riccarton office from tomorrow.
If you have any concerns about returning to work then please liaise directly with your supervisor to discuss your particular needs.
At present all people entering the building are required to sign a record sheet in the ground level foyer. I am uncertain if this will apply on Friday morning but please assume that it will unless I update this page to the contrary.
Thanks
Julian Clarke
