Letitia Hay

Letitia was born and raised in Christchurch. After graduating with an LLB and a BA in Te Reo Māori from the University of Canterbury, Letitia was admitted to the Bar in March 2016. She began her career in a specialist family law team, frequently representing clients in the Christchurch Family Court.

Letitia is a skilled family lawyer with extensive experience in matters relating to parenting, family violence (protection orders), and paternity proceedings. Her professional reputation and depth of experience have been acknowledged through her appointment to the Lawyer for Child list.

Passionate about family law, Letitia is committed to helping clients navigate what are often emotionally charged and complex situations. She takes a practical, empathetic approach and advocates strongly on behalf of her clients at every stage — including appearances in the Family Court when needed. Her decision to pursue a career in law was driven by a genuine desire to support people through some of life’s most challenging moments.

Outside of work, Letitia enjoys spending time with her friends and whānau, heading to the gym, and catching up over long walks and good conversation. She's often found with a coffee in one hand and a good book in the other.
